Baseline Evaluation for GFFO/BMZ Chapeau Nexus Project. The project has been developed aiming to integrate humanitarian multisectoral emergency response in Bay, Galgaduud, Mudug and Hiiraan regions of Somalia with community resilience programming for period of 5 years. Smart Vision was contracted to conduct Baseline Evaluation.

The International Labour Organization (ILO) mandate within the JPLG has focused on job creation by improving the business environment and promotion of local economic development activities. To support the districts towards LED, ILO has been helping the district administrations in Somalia to establish participatory planning process, set up a LED Forum with membership from both the public and private sector to drive the process, mobilize resources for interventions as well as to manage the implementation of projects designed to stimulate economic activity and create employment opportunities. Smart Vision was contracted to conduct Local Economic Assessment in Southern regions of Somalia.

Smart Vision was contracted by Puntland Non State Actors to develop and review their strategy and policies. The overall objective of this consultancy is to provide need-based support for Puntland Non-State Actors Association (PUNSAA), and to develop or review strategic plan and policies for the period 2023-2025.

Midterm review for the project Democracy, Human Rights and Resilience (DHRR) Programme is 4 years programme that aims to Improve democratic participation and governance; improve respect for human rights and enhance disaster risk management in Puntland and Southwest States of Somalia. With the 10 implementing partners, including government institutions, the programme targets a total of 15 districts in Puntland and Southwest states to contribute to democratic state building and disaster resilience in Somalia.

Contracted endline Evaluation for the project ‘Expanding Civic Space, Empowering Youth and Women to Contribute to the Governance and Development processes in Somaliland’ is implemented by the ‘Dan-Guud Consortium’ and funded by the European Union. Under the ‘Dan-Guud’ umbrella, SOYDAVO leads three other co-implementing organizations: YOVENCO, SONSAF and Media INK. The project is also supporting other youth-led organizations such as MASAF. The project implementation effectively kicked off in January 2020 and will end in December 2022. The project aims at improving the role of women and youth CSOs in the decision-making and political space in Somaliland. This will be accomplished by the empowerment of the CSOs to be both a driving force for good governance and accountability as well as a mobilizer for related grassroots movements.

BHA Endline Evaluation. In response to the challenges discussed above, Save the Children International, Somalia program initiated an integrated project titled Sustainable Opportunities for more Accessible Livelihoods and Integrated Assistance. The goal of the program implemented in Somalia and Somaliland was: To save lives, alleviate suffering, maintain human dignity, and build resilience in communities experiencing humanitarian crisis and/or are food insecure. Smart Vision was contracted to conduct the endline evaluation.

In May 2017, the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ0 commissioned GIZ to implement a transitional aid project “Drought Recovery Project”, (now the GIZ Urban Food Security) under the “Food security in the Horn of Africa, drought response measures in Somalia”. Smart Vision was contacted to conduct Baseline Assessment in Luglow IDP, Kismaayo area. The purpose of this consultancy is to provide a detailed mapping of the current humanitarian needs and drought affected population in the areas in terms of WASH, FSL, Nutrition, Shelter, Health related issues. The baseline data will be used to measure results and project performance over time.

Smart Vision for Consultancy and Development in partnership with SustaiNet Group Ltd is jointly supporting the implementation of the Quality infrastructure for agricultural production (DQIAP) – component of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) Project ‘Support for Agricultural Production and Quality Assurance (SPQA) in Somalia. The project will closely work with and support the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation (MoAI) of the Federal Government of Somalia (FGS) and the Somali Bureau of Standards (SoBS).

Midterm Evaluation for the project FFO NEXUS was initially a 2-year project (January 2020 – Dec 2021), but was extended from January 2022 to September 2022, and additional 2 years of the project extension is also under progress. The project was designed to address the most pertaining challenges faced by the most vulnerable communities living in 7 regions in Somalia (Kismayo, Mogadishu, Adado, Mudug, Sool, Sanaag, and Toghdeer). So far, the project funded by German Government, has benefited a total of 562,000 under five children and 473,000 children age between 6 to 14 years. The program is addressing the humanitarian priorities of Save the Children’s Country Strategic Plan (CSP) for Somalia with focus on the humanitarian components. At the start of 2022, an updated CSP was introduced for the upcoming strategic period 2022 – 2024 to continue to ensure that children survive, learn and are protected.
